The squeaky old plank floors and 18th century furnishings ensure a cozy interior, adapted to the rural setting of the Hageland that this slowly getting a Haspengouws character.
Along the Kleine Gete which crosses the Hageland is a medieval town Zoutleeuw (French: Léau) with a rich history as it used to be a major activity had seen it was a stopping point for traders from the south of Europe were on their way to Bruges. Zoutleeuw has such a unique heritage and its art treasures. The market with its impressive facades, testifies to the wealth of yesteryear.
Now we can say that this town is a stopping place for those who appreciate history and nature because Hageland has its orchards and vegetable plantations alternating with beautiful rich farmlands that change color continuously. The hedges are small divisions that fit nicely into the picture.
Zoutleeuw and its surroundings provide a magnificent setting for walking or just take the bike.
