When you hear Wim Sonneveld’s song “ het dorp : thuis heb ik nog een ansichtkaart waarop een kerk, een kar met paard ….(at home i have a postcard with a church , a horse and cart …)” you just get lost in sweat dreams …

In the Westhoek you can find plenty of these small quiet dozy villages and the village Westvleteren is one beautiful example of this.

At the village, square in the warm shadow of the Sint Martinus church, Het Heilig genot tries nothing more than to be a peaceful place where you can relax and enjoy.

The building, a former presbytery, with an English garden, has been fully renovated with respect of the past and with a sense for current comfort, into a country hotel that radiates peace and relaxation.

Nearby historical cities as Ieper, Veurne and Poperinge.

The sea, hills, the polders and “de schreve” (the Franco-Belgian border), all within easy reach without having to face traffic jams.

Our small hotel is your base for endless walks, bike tours and so much more …

In our cozy lounge you can share experiences with other guests or just be planning your next trip.

No “have to’s”, you an also just dream away in an exciting book or play card games with your company while enjoying a free cup of coffee or tea or enjoy a regional beer for a small prize.

For lunch Sandie’s tearoom is at your disposal and for dinner advantageous arrangements have been agreed on with restaurants in the neighborhood. Free shuttle service is available upon demand.

Het Heilig genot does not take children under the age of 16 and is not suitable for pets, however for those families we are more then willing to suggest suitable accommodation nearby.

eerst was het wat wennen aan de open badkamer maar bij nader inzien... toch eens wat anders en tof idee !
heel leuke ontvangst en bijzonder sympathieke dame die met de volle 100% geniet van haar job !

New 8 room hotel in rural town, near Trappist Abbe

Pro: New, rural setting, complete hospitality and excellent English.
Con: More privacy of the bathroom area.
Locatie: The world famous Trappist brewey is four km. Ypres (Ieper) is about 15 minutes away and has a very nice town square with many restaurants.
The hotel owner, Sandie, met us when we arrived and took care of us during our two day stay. The hotel is new and well furnished. Breakfast was complete with eggs to order. Sandie helps with her complete knowledge of the Westvleteren Abbey brewery, four km away.

ruime kamers, gratis koffie/thee met versnaperingen, gratis mineraal water op de kamers, honesty bar.
in de kamers is er gewoon alles voorzien ; haardroger,safe,wifi,badproducten,heel veel badhanddoeken en een infoboekje !
voor deze prijs krijg je gewoonweg heel veel !
wij komen zeker terug !

wonderfull place in the westhoek , a small hotel but very big rooms and a nice breakfast
