Quinta Antes o Vento – Vimeiro, Alcobaça
The apartments
The Quinta has two apartments and a Yurt. One of the apartments, the Adega, is built in a converted wineshed, suitable for two to four people. It consists of a kitchen, sitting room, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. A large bookcase, with a huge choice of Dutch and English books, divides the sitting room from one of the bedrooms. There are French doors which open out on to a large veranda.
The Loja
The other apartment is built in the house. It has two bedrooms, a kitchen, a sitting room, and a bathroom. The two doors open out on the vernada where you can sit in the shade.
Yurt
Since 2012 we have built a Yurt, which is a large, round Mongolian tent. Our yurt has a diameter of 5 metres and is completely furnished. There's a huge bed, dining-table and chairs and a chest to put your things in. It is a luxuriuos way of camping and there is more than enough room for four people. Next to the yurt is a bathroom with shower, toilet and vanity unit. There is also an outdoor kitchen, which is for your sole use only.
Outside in the garden, we have built an outdoor kitchen where you can barbeque and relax in the evenings. We have a huge garden with a labyrinth and beautiful views over the pastures and fruit trees. There is a plungepool, more to cool down than to swim.
The surroundings
The Quinta is situated between two towns Alcobaça and Caldas da Rainha. This region is very suitable for walking. There are many walks set out bij people from the neighbourhood, but there are also possibilities to walk under guidance. These guides know a lot about the history of Portugal in general , but also about the aspects of the region and the spots you'll visit. So would you like to take a walk amongst the blossoming fruit trees in March? Or do you want to see the ancient dinosaur footprints in May.
Perhaps you would like to experience the spectacular cliffs of Salir do Porto in June? Then there are the wonderful old Convents of Alcobaca and Batalha in Autumn. The beautiful walk through the spa town of Caldas da Rainha, where you can visit the termal baths of Queen Leonor, might also be an option. Finally, there is the special tour of the all the terraces along the beach. All that is possible from our address: Quinta Antes o Vento in Ribeira do Carrasqueiro.
