Bed in Gent – Ghent
A roomy guest-house, the bright south-oriented bathrooms and the shared dining room with a dash of modern retro - really, do not skip breakfast in that dining room.
Also a friendly neighbourhood, very much alive (without the rush).
A fashionable quarter, if you like, with the marina nearby.
It takes a five-minute walk to the railway station. Only ten minutes to my favourite coffee shop or the library.

Tijdens het straattheaterfestival Mira Miro (periode Gentse feesten) waren we 6 dagen te gast bij Tom. De kamers zijn heerlijk ruim en voorzien van eigen badkamer met toilet en ligbad (de bedden slapen heerlijk). Douchen is misschien een tikkeltje ongemakkelijk maar met wat improvisatie lukt dit prima (er is geen douchecabine). Heb je wat meer tijd dan ga je gewoon lekker in bad. De ligging is vlakbij station Dampoort. Wij kwamen met de trein en hoefden dus maar 5 minuten te lopen. Het wijkje Macharius waarin de B&B is knus en ligt op nog geen 10 minuten lopen vanaf het historische centrum. Ontbijten bij Tom is iedere ochtend weer een feest. Lekker brood, eigengemaakte jam, een krantje en altijd een vriendelijk woord. Ik weet in het vervolg wel waar ik voor een goed adresje in Gent moet zijn. O ja, als je tv op je kamer wilt dan heb je op dit moment pech... Wij hebben 't geenszins gemist!

Tom is een aardige man die net is begonnen met zijn B&B en heel hard zijn best doet om er wat moois van te maken. Wij hadden de zolder kamer en die was heel netjes en vooral heel erg schoon.
Tom zette regelmatig wat extra koffie die we nooit op de rekening terug hebben gezien. Ook het ontbijt was erg smakelijk.
Het B&B bevindt zich op 10-15 minuten van het mooie centrum van Gent. Parkeren is niet al te duur met een dagkaart (3 euro per dag).
Nadeel: Een erg steile trap, dus niet voor mensen die daar problemen mee hebben. Tom helpt je graag de koffers mee naar boven nemen
